Christchurch, New Zealand – Postponed
2020 presents EU scholars with a new canvas on which to explore the nature and direction of European Integration. The conference will focus upon the renewal of the EU’s institutional leadership and the new priorities and challenges for the EU27. Papers are welcome from a broad multidisciplinary perspective that investigate these questions from both, an European and Asia Pacific perspective. This annual conference also serves as the 20th anniversary celebration of the National Centre for Research on Europe (NCRE) at the University of Canterbury, the host of the conference. To build capacity and sustainability in EU Studies in the Asia Pacific region both academics as well as graduate students are invited to participate. Early career researchers will be able to benefit from networking with more experienced participants, develop important research and presentation skills and bring new and different perspectives to the conference.
The 2020 conference will be held over two days. A postgraduate workshop will be held parallel to the conference on one day (Thursday or Friday – tbc). Postgraduate students are encouraged to register and present their work in a conference-style setting, with a more relaxed atmosphere among their peers. Experienced facilitators provide help and feedback.
The organisers reserve the right to move panels and presentations at short notice due to operational requirements.
We will cover up to three nights accommodation for conference and workshop presenters not living within reasonable commuting distance. Rooms will be booked for arrival on Wednesday, 24 June and departure on Saturday, 27 June 2019. Please note that only these nights can be covered. Unless arranged otherwise in writing with the conference organisers, a single room is booked for conference presenters. Postgraduate workshop participants will be allocated twin rooms (same sex only). Any additional guests staying at the hotel must be registered and pay the costs at check in. If any additional nights have been booked at your cost (and confirmed in writing by the conference organisers), these must be paid for at check in.
